Itty Bitty Birdhouse Treats

Birdhouse Treats

The  length of our Canadian winters often makes me forget how loud the sound of birds can be, until one spring morning, you wake up and hear them again – as if they had never left.  They give you hope of sunny days to come, of new life, and of once again enjoying the outdoors, without being all bundled up.  This is what inspired my latest project – these cute itty bitty birdhouses!

I designed them using Stampin’ Up’s  Mini Milk Carton and then disguised them as birdhouses by adding a roof and a little window.  What a neat way to reuse this die while creating a completely different look!

I texturized the birdhouses so they looked like they were made of wood using a woodgrain impression plate from Papertrey Ink, and added little accent felt birds using their Itty Bitty Bird die.  To open the treat, receipients only have to open the bottom of the box (which are just tabs folded over eachother and lightly glued).  This does not ruin the look of the birdhouse and they are then free to use it as a decoration.

Thanks for much for stopping by.  I hope you all are able to make time for a little bit of creative fun this weekend!

Take care ~LM
